The story of Food For All

In 1982, a Food For All public policy committee was created to help advocate for the hungry and impoverished in Western New York. It had become apparent that a voice was needed to advocate for those who were suffering from hunger, living in poverty, and often unheard.

By 1986, Food For All had begun taking an active role in promoting federal nutrition programs with a large emphasis on SNAP (formerly Food Stamps), the Summer Food Service Program, and the School Breakfast Program.

Today, Food For All has undertaken a multitude of different responsibilities. While we continue to promote federal USDA nutrition programs, we also assist communities to become more food secure. We are doing this everyday by utilizing our strategic partnerships with other Western new York nonprofits and working with numerous community stakeholders to make real progress in the battle against hunger. We also hold workshops and seminars regarding important topics such as Buffalo's local food system and local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) organizations.

We envision communities where all people at all times have access to nutritious, safe, and culturally appropriate foods that are produced in ways that are environmentally sound, socially just, and available through local non-emergency sources. When our hard work is combined with the support of good people like you anything is possible!
